  1. Ali, I stumbled upon your fried chickpea recipe, but more importantly I stumbled upon your name. Waks is my family name and very uncommon. My family was originally from Poland. Is this your name or your husbands? I am Mitch Waks and my father is Zev Waks, his mother was Bluma Waks. I have cousins in Boston. I wonder if there is a relation. I am on facebook under my name. If you know of any connection I would love to hear it. And looking forward to trying your chickpea recipe for thanksgiving this year.
    All the best,
    Mitch Waks

    1. Mitch – so exciting to hear from a Waks! My grandfather William was from Warsaw (Wolf was his name on his original passport). I know that his father was estranged from his family which was rather large and I think they owned a store of some sort. My aunt Sandy knows more of the family history. We’re from NYC originally, it would be amazing to find relatives up north, as far as I know I’m the only Waks in Maine. I’ll try reach out to you on Facebook later today. Thank you for writing!!!!
